Get a head start on your build with Root’s product templates

We strive to empower software developers to build insurance products quickly and without constraints. Innovation is about more than generating new ideas, it’s about executing on an idea, getting to market fast, and iterating based on customer feedback.

This is what Root’s Workbench is all about, giving control to software developers to get their team’s insurance product to market easily without compromising on the features that sets them apart.

With Root’s new API-ready insurance product starter templates, developers can hit the ground running faster than ever.

New product starter templates

Product templates are designed ready to be launched and include comprehensive product logic and key benefits out of the box. Using Root’s low-code Workbench tools you can customise product templates to match your unique product requirements with minimal development effort.

All product templates come with Root’s familiar insurance APIs and are pre-configured for Root Embed, allowing you to test and sell your products through digital channels in days.

These are the product templates available on Root today:

Pet Insurance

Offer your customers protection for their furry friends with this product template.

Features include:

Device Cover

Offer your customers protection against theft, accidental damage or loss for mobile devices using this product template with features specific to device cover.

Features include:

  • Limit reactivation to a maximum of two times using lifecycle hooks and actions.
  • Variable pricing with an excess amount allocation. Use conditional Joi validation depending on what device was chosen.
  • Post excess amount into a claims block using a HTTP request from a lifecycle hook.

Funeral Cover

Root’s funeral cover product template gives you a head start with the flexibility to customise your funeral product to suit your customers’ needs.

Features include:

  • Architecture for advanced usage of cover tranches that follows industry best practices.
  • Design examples for complex alterations on a policy.
  • Advanced claims architecture showing necessary waiting periods as they pertain to tranches, i.e. the maturity of cover for an individual.
  • Automated anniversary increases using scheduled functions.

Getting started with templates

Product templates are presented when creating a new product module in your organisation on Root. To get started, log into Root, navigate to Workbench and click “Add product module”. You’ll be presented with a list of templates to choose from. From there you can use Workbench to customize, configure and extend your new product.
